Hey There
If you don't want to burnout or feel stressed and exhausted, join me every week as we dive into my notebook and reflect on how we can avoid burnout and live a life full of laughter and flow.
Let’s break it down into bite-sized wisdom, so you can feel lighter and more aligned. Get comfy and I will begin.
Burnout 101: The Slow-Motion Train Wreck
Burnout can creep up on you. It starts as a small tiredness and builds into a constant state of exhaustion that even sleep can’t fix.
Sound familiar? Here’s what it looked like for me (yes I burnout, I lived this!):
🧡 Constant exhaustion—even when I rested, my body stayed in survival mode.
🧡 A mind always in overdrive, stuck in a cycle of racing thoughts and worries.
🧡 My “frenemy voice” (the mean voice inside your head!) whispers, “Do more, be more,” keeping me in overdrive.
The wake-up call: Burnout forced me to stop and finally listen to my body and nervous system.
Lessons from Burnout: A Fresh Perspective on Your Nervous System
These hard-won insights aren’t just ideas; they’re tools that helped me move from burnout to alignment.
Here’s what I’ve learned:
🧡 Nodding Yes Isn’t Always the Answer
Saying yes to everything feels exciting—until it doesn’t!
I used to be the “yes” to everything person, and it felt good to run at life. But eventually, it was just like my energy, that excited feeling vanished!
Ditch the nodding yes dog and start honouring yourself. Trust me, “no” can be a powerful choice, making space for what really fuels you. The more you say it, the easier it becomes - practice makes perfect!
🧡 Joy Isn’t Extra—it’s Essential
When I was at my lowest, joy was hard to find.
But little by little, I learned that small sparks of joy—like a quiet cup of tea or a cosy moment—were more than “nice-to-haves.”
They became my nervous system’s lifeline, helping to calm the storm.
So, what brings you joy? Lean into those small moments; they’re fuel for your soul.
🧡 Quiet the Frenemy Voice (the voice inside your head that is just mean!)
You know that inner critic pushing you to do more, be more?
For me, this “frenemy” kept my nervous system on high alert, making it impossible to relax. Recognising it as my nervous system’s “threat mode” was huge. Now, I call it out, turning the volume down, replacing it with kindness. It’s a game-changer!
My client Heidi, discovered the same thing, telling me:
“I just tell my brain, ‘Nope, not interested in what you’re saying, I listen to my body now. I used to think my brain was always right—now I know better.”
🧡 Your Body is a Guide, Not a Problem to Fix
Before burnout, I treated my body like a machine that I dragged out of bed, pushing it through the day, and moving it from place to place.
But when I was forced to rest, I finally started listening. I learned to see my body as a guide—offering signals like fatigue, tension, or anxiety as gentle nudges to pause, breathe, and reset.
Our bodies know what we need if we trust and follow those cues.
Living in Flow, Not in Overdrive
Burnout doesn’t mean slowing down or giving up your career or life; it means finding your rhythm. Imagine living in flow, tapping into energy that sustains rather than drains you. Here’s how I stay in my flow now:
🧡 Listen to my body’s cues and honour them.
🧡 Protect my energy by saying no to what doesn’t serve me.
🧡 Find micro-moments of joy to bring calm and ease into my day.
Here are Some Quick Tips to Reset Your Nervous System
Here are some small shifts to help you reclaim your energy and start feeling more grounded immediately:
🧡 Pause Break:
Take a moment each day for a deep, grounding breath. As you take a few breaths feel your body, watch your breath, and notice what you feel and what your thoughts are doing. Just watch nothing more. It’s a mini reset for your nervous system.
🧡 Move with Love:
Take time to feel your body, are you sitting comfortably? Not only do you deserve comfort, but it calms your nervous system!
🧡 Practice Saying No:
Test out a small “no” to something unnecessary today.
🧡 Seek Micro-Joys:
Notice one thing that makes you smile—a favourite song, a cosy moment. These tiny joys are like fuel.
Takeaway:
Let burnout be your guide to reset, realign, and rise.
Life feels lighter when your nervous system is your ally.
Stay Blessed!
