The Art of Deep Rest

Remembering the innate wisdom of rest
East Sussex · 13th July 2026 · Four nights

If you’re a capable, self-aware woman who manages life well but feels tired underneath it all, and you’re ready to experience rest that goes deeper than sleep or time off, then join us for this retreat where you’ll come away with a felt understanding of what deep rest really is and how to live from it.

Gardens edited.jpg

Join me snuggled into the Sussex countryside, notice how something in you immediately begins to soften.

The land is open and green. The air is warm and quiet. There’s space here, not the dramatic kind, just enough.

Trees, sky, gentle paths to walk. Nothing is pulling your attention. Nobody is asking anything of you. For the first time in a while, you notice how much effort you’ve been carrying without realising.

Time feels slower here. There’s a hush in the air, an ease that settles around you. There is nothing to do and no one to manage. Around you is a small group of women who, like you, have arrived because something inside knows it’s time.

No pressure to share. No rush to connect. Connection forms quietly, in the unspoken, in the shared permission to stop performing and simply be here.

You settle into your first deep rest practice. Your body begins to land, its weight surrendering naturally into the ground. Your jaw softens. Your breath deepens and drops into your belly, effortless. Your mind quietens.

For the first time in a long while, rest doesn’t feel like something you’re trying to do. It’s something that’s happening. You remember this feeling. Not as an idea, but as a deep inner knowing.

The day ends gently. Sleep comes differently here. Deeper. Easier. And as you drift off, supported and at ease, you realise that something important has already shifted. Your body has begun to remember how to rest.

You don’t have to wait until your body forces you to stop.

What This Retreat Offers You

This retreat is designed for women who function well on the outside, yet feel something very different inside. Over four nights, you will experience what happens when the constant inner effort finally drops away.

You’ll experience rest that actually lands
Not just time off. Not just sleep. A deeper kind of rest where your body genuinely settles and restores, rather than staying quietly switched on beneath the surface.

You’ll understand why rest hasn’t been working
Not as a theory, but in your own body. You’ll begin to recognise the subtle habits that keep effort running, even in stillness, and why trying harder has never been the answer.

You’ll stop managing yourself and start inhabiting yourself
Without forcing anything. Without collapsing. You’ll experience what it feels like when vigilance softens and your system no longer needs to hold everything together.

You’ll learn to recognise true rest when it appears
So you’re no longer guessing, striving, or wondering if you’re “doing it right”. You’ll leave with a clear felt sense of what real rest actually is.

You’ll take home a reliable way to return to rest in everyday life
Not a routine. Not a technique. A lived reference point you can come back to, again and again, in ordinary moments.

This is not about learning more.
It’s about remembering something your body already knows.

You do not have to justify your exhaustion to be worthy of rest.

The Venue

This place feels as if it has been made for quiet attention and slow presence. The land here is welcoming, soft, open, and generously green.

There are places for you to wander, pause, breathe, and simply be without interruption. Close enough to the sea to carry the occasional whisper of salt air on the breeze, this setting gives you permission to leave the intensity of everyday demands behind the moment you step into its quiet.

Here, nothing clamours for your attention. There are gardens and grounds to explore if you wish, paths that invite slow walking, and open sky that allows your breath to settle. The atmosphere is calm and unhurried, gently encouraging you to stop, let go, and be where you are.

Inside, the spaces reflect that same simplicity and comfort, most clearly in the beautiful, quiet cabin often referred to as the Zen Cabin. A warm, contained space for gathering, resting, and practising together. With its natural wood interior and calm atmosphere, it’s a place you’ll find yourself settling quickly and staying awhile.

Then there are the bedrooms. You’ll sleep in rooms designed for real rest. Quiet, private, and centred on comfort. Each room centres around a deeply supportive bed with high quality mattresses and linens, alongside thoughtful touches that help the body soften and prepare for sleep. Lying here in the stillness, it becomes easier to relax because the environment itself supports your rest.

The venue’s location also means the outdoors becomes a gentle companion in this process of unwinding. From the gardens, you can step straight into countryside walks, letting the land regulate you without intention or effort. You might hear birdsong, wind in the trees, or long stretches of silence that you seem to melt into.

There is a quiet luxury in the details that matter when you are learning how to rest. A bed that invites you to sink in, spaces that let the body soften rather than brace, and surroundings that support you without asking anything in return.

The Food

Food here is all part of the rhythm of rest.

Every meal is prepared on site, pulled together with care, warmth, and attention. You’ll start your day with filling breakfasts that leave you satisfied and steady. Lunches are unhurried and generous, the kind you linger over without checking the time. And dinner arrives early in the evening, leaving you deliciously full in all the right ways as the day begins to soften.

The food reflects where you are. Seasonal, thoughtfully sourced, and rooted in the Sussex countryside. Ingredients are drawn from local growers and suppliers, shaped by the rhythm of the land and the time of year, and cooked by a kitchen that knows how to feed people well without overcomplicating things. It’s the kind of food that tastes honest, grounding, and deeply enjoyable to eat.

Did somebody say cake?

Cake O’Clock happens daily, and what a beautiful ritual it is.
The kettle goes on. Tea is poured. Plates are passed. And cake takes centre stage. The chef’s choice never disappoints. Nothing is rushed. We sit, eat, and simply enjoy the pleasure of being here, together.

Teas are available throughout the day, so you can make a cup whenever the mood strikes.

If you have allergies, intolerances, or any specific dietary requirements, these are fully catered for by a more-than-capable chef, so you can relax and enjoy every meal without a second thought.

Your Journey

This retreat unfolds slowly and intentionally. Each day builds on the one before it, guiding you deeper into rest that does not require effort.

Nothing is rushed.
Nothing is packed in.

You are met where you are, and the pace adjusts as your system begins to soften.

Day 1 · Landing and Permission You arrive, unpack, and are given time to simply be here. This first day is about letting your body know it is allowed to arrive. There is no pressure to socialise, no expectation to perform, and nothing you need to do. We gather in the afternoon for our opening circle, with tea and cake, because why not. From there, the pace slows further with a grounding walk on the land and an evening deep rest practice that helps the day settle fully. As you lie down that first night, you may notice something subtle but important. The sense that you no longer need to hold yourself together. That nothing is being asked of you.

Day 2 · Rest in the Body With the body more settled, we are ready to explore physical rest. You’ll be guided through gentle, supportive practices that help the body release. Time outdoors and quiet walking are woven through the day, alongside breath-based practices that invite ease rather than control. In the evenings, deep rest practices return, allowing what has shifted during the day to land without effort. Experience how rest begins in the body when doing less feels safe.

Day 3 · Rest in the Mind As the body softens, the mind becomes more visible. Today, we explore what happens when you let go of trying to stop your thinking. You’re guided into stillness in a way that allows thoughts to come and go, without needing to follow them or make sense of them. There is space for quiet reflection, simple enquiry, and time outside, all designed to let the mental noise settle. Deep rest practices continue, supporting the mind to rest in something wider than thought.

Day 4 · Rest in the Heart Now the work deepens again. The focus here is emotional rest. Not fixing. Not processing. Not explaining yourself with story. You’ll be guided through practices that allow feeling to move without story, alongside gentle relational moments that invite presence without performance. Here we create space for you to simply be. In the evening, we gather for a closing circle by the fire. There is space to share if you wish, and equal permission to sit quietly. Experience what it is to allow the heart to rest deeply.

Day 5 · Integration and Return On the final morning, attention turns toward returning home. The focus is not on routines or rules, but on recognising what has shifted and how to carry this felt understanding of rest back into ordinary life. We close together with reflection and a simple integration practice, supporting you to move back into your world with steadiness rather than collapse. Because rest is not something you leave behind. It’s something you now know how to return to.

What This Retreat Is Really For

You don’t need another reset.
You don’t need more techniques.
And you don’t need to try harder to relax.

What you do need is a place where the effort you didn’t realise you were carrying can finally stop.

If you recognise yourself as functioning well on the outside, and being the one who holds things together, life is moving, responsibilities are being handled, people rely on you, and maybe even refer to you as “safe hands”.

But inside, there’s a constant low level of holding.
A subtle vigilance.
A sense that even rest requires your management.

This retreat is designed for YOU.

Here’s what we’re addressing together:

The kind of tiredness that doesn’t lift with sleep
A nervous system that stays alert even when life is calm
A mind that fills silence instead of settling into it
The habit of staying on top of yourself, even in moments meant for rest
Emotional bracing that feels normal because it’s been there so long

It means your system has learned to stay switched on.

And here’s what changes:

Over these four nights, you don’t learn rest as an idea.
You experience it as a state your body remembers.

You begin to recognise the moment effort appears and, more importantly, how to let it go without forcing anything.

You’ll notice what true rest feels like in your body, so you’re no longer guessing or chasing it.

You leave with:

A felt understanding of the difference between relaxation and deep rest
The ability to notice when you’re bracing, holding, or over-managing
A reliable way to return to rest in ordinary life
A quieter inner world that doesn’t need constant supervision

During this, something subtle but important happens too.
Your body starts to trust you again. Not because you fixed it. But because, finally, you stopped getting in your own way.

Is and isn't for you.jpg

This Journey Is Totally For You If…

You function well in life, but find that even when you stop, something in you doesn’t.

You’re tired of keeping yourself together, even when nothing is required.

You want to experience rest in your body, not just understand it in theory.

You’re comfortable with silence, slowness, and

simple human connection.

You value small, intimate spaces where nothing needs proving.

You’re willing to arrive as you are, without performing or fixing yourself.

You’re drawn to depth that is calm, grounded, and quietly powerful.

And just as importantly…

This Journey Is Not For You If…

You’re looking for a packed schedule or constant stimulation.

You want dramatic breakthroughs, emotional catharsis, or performance healing.

You’re hoping someone else will do the work for you.

You’re not open to switching your phone off for the retreat and giving yourself the rare experience of being fully unreachable.

This retreat is small by design, ensuring a quiet inner and outer experience throughout.

Me grass edited.jpg

A little extra support from me to you

This retreat stands on its own. Nothing extra is required.

And because deep rest is something that unfolds best when it’s held gently at the edges, I’ve chosen to include something simple and personal.

You’ll have two short 1:1 calls with me.

One before the retreat, to support your arrival.
This is a chance to ask practical questions, settle any unnecessary anticipation, and step into the retreat feeling clear and grounded.

And one after the retreat, to support integration.
A space to reflect on what’s shifted, name what you’re noticing, and gently explore how this felt understanding of rest comes back into ordinary life with you.

These conversations aren’t about fixing, analysing, or doing more work. They’re simply a place to arrive, and a place to land.

Quiet. Human. Supportive.

About Nat:

I’ve been teaching and exploring rest for most of my adult life.
Not as an idea, but as something lived, tested, and returned to again and again.

For many years, I was highly functional on the outside and quietly exhausted on the inside. I knew how to keep going. I knew how to cope. I knew how to manage myself through full days, busy roles, and long to do lists.

What I didn’t understand then was what rest actually was.

Eventually, my body stopped negotiating with me.

I spent eighteen months in bed, not because I chose to rest, but because I could no longer function. That period changed everything. It showed me, very clearly, the difference between collapsing and resting, between stopping and truly settling.

Deep rest became my way back.
Not switching off. Not escaping life.

Learning how the body, mind, and heart naturally return to their own intelligence when we stop getting in our own way.

This understanding sits at the centre of my work. It shapes how I teach, how I hold space, and how I live day to day. It’s the foundation of my work, and the place I return to whenever life asks more of me.

This retreat has been resting in my heart for a long time.

It’s the first in-person work I’m offering in the UK in over five years, and it felt important that it centred on the subject that changed my life most profoundly. Rest. Real rest. The kind that alters how you live, not just how you feel for a few days.

I’m looking forward to sharing this space with you.

Soft, easeful, and in-person.

Child Lying Down

Is this retreat for me? This retreat is for capable women who function well in life but know something quieter and deeper is calling. You don’t need to be new to this work, and you don’t need to be “advanced”. If rest has started to matter to you in a different way, and you’re ready to experience it rather than think about it, you’ll feel at home here.

What is the itinerary? The retreat unfolds gently over five days, with each day exploring a different layer of rest. There is a clear structure, but no rushing and no pressure to keep up. You’ll experience gentle embodied practice, guided rest, time in nature, quiet reflection, and shared moments of learning and laughter. This is not an hour-by-hour schedule. It’s a rhythm that supports settling.

Is this a silent retreat? No. This is not a formal silent retreat. There will be natural periods of quiet and silence woven throughout the days, alongside gentle conversation and shared moments. Silence is welcomed, not enforced.

Will there be time alone as well as time together? Yes. Very much so. There is a balance of shared sessions and spacious time for yourself. You are never required to socialise, speak, or share, and you are equally welcome to connect when it feels right.

What is included in my registration? Your booking includes: • Four nights accommodation • All meals from arrival to departure, including daily Cake O’Clock • All retreat sessions and guided practices • Use of the grounds and retreat spaces • A short one-to-one call with me before the retreat • A short one-to-one call with me after the retreat Everything essential to the retreat experience is taken care of.

What time does the retreat start and end? Arrival is from 2pm on Monday 13th July 2026, with our opening gathering at 3pm that day. The retreat concludes on Friday 17th July 2026 at midday. Full timing details will be shared after booking.

Can I arrive late or leave early if needed? This retreat is designed as a contained experience, and I encourage arriving and leaving within the shared container if at all possible. If you have a genuine need to arrive late or leave early, please reach out before booking so we can talk it through.

What’s the group size? This retreat is intentionally small, with just nine places, allowing for a quiet, intimate inner and outer experience throughout.

Can I bring my kids or partner? This retreat is designed as a contained space for adult rest and reflection. Partners, children, or additional guests are not able to attend

Where is the retreat? The retreat takes place in East Sussex, in the village of Hooe. The full address will be shared after booking.

How do I get there? If you’re driving, there is ample parking on site awaiting your arrival. If you prefer to let the train take the strain, the nearest stations are Bexhill or Hastings, followed by a short taxi ride to the venue. Clear travel guidance will be shared after booking.

Can you accommodate dietary restrictions? Yes, definitely! All dietary requirements, allergies, and intolerances are fully catered for. You’ll be asked for this information in advance so everything is handled in readiness for your arrival.

Is this suitable if I’m not sleeping well right now? Yes. You are so very welcome. This retreat does not require you to already be rested. The practices, rhythm, and environment are designed to support rest gently, wherever you are starting from.

Is this retreat suitable if I have health or mobility considerations? Yes you are most welcome to join us. If you have any health or mobility needs, please let me know at the time of booking so everything can be thoughtfully arranged. This may include ground-floor accommodation or other practical considerations to support your comfort and wellbeing.

What do I pack? Think comfortable clothing, layers, and something cosy for evenings. You’ll be spending time outdoors, so bring suitable footwear for walking on the land. It’s summer, so a water bottle is recommended to stay hydrated while you’re outside.

What is your phone policy? To support rest and presence, phones are switched off for the duration of the retreat. This is a heartfelt request from me to you, to deepen your experience and allow you to fully arrive without distraction.

What is your cancellation policy? Because places are very limited and the retreat is intentionally small, bookings are non-refundable. Full cancellation terms are clearly outlined in the booking information.

Still have a question? If you’re feeling a quiet yes but want to talk it through first, you are warmly invited to book a time to chat. Sometimes a simple conversation is all it takes to know.

Frequently Asked Questions

A Letter From Me to You

Hey Beautiful,

I want to share something with you. This retreat wasn’t created as an event or an escape.
It has been resting in my heart for a long time.

When I knew I was coming back to the UK for the first time in over five years, it felt very clear to me what the in-person work needed to be about. Not productivity. Not healing as a project. Not fixing anything that’s broken.

Rest.

Not the kind we talk about lightly.
But the kind that quietly changes how you live.

I know many of the women who feel drawn here are capable, thoughtful, and used to holding a lot. You may function well. You may even be doing work you love. And still, something in you knows that rest hasn’t quite landed in the way it needs to.

This retreat is an invitation to experience something different.
To let your body, mind, and heart soften together.
To move slowly. To breathe fully. To rest without having to earn it.

I’ve chosen to keep this retreat very small because intimacy matters to me. Nine women feels right. Spacious enough to be together. Gentle enough for you to rest in your own way. There is room here for quiet, for presence, for not needing to explain yourself.

Over these days, nothing will be rushed. Nothing will be forced. You don’t need to perform, share, or be anything other than you are.

If you’re reading this and something in you feels recognised, that matters. If your body softened just a little as you imagined being here, that matters too.

I would love to share this space with you. Slowly. Gently. In person.

See you there
