Inside Nat's Notebook - Real Reflections for Real Change

No one tells you this part.

Even in your healing, actually, especially in your healing, you might still be chasing.

Not because you’re broken. But because your nervous system is still wired for output.

So we overschedule the rituals. We optimise our routines. We chase ease with the same clenched jaw we chase success.

And deep down, we hope that if we do it all right, we’ll finally feel safe, happy and healthy.

But real safety?

It doesn’t come from the perfect protocol.

It comes from something far deeper.

The Moment Everything Shifted

For me, it was one quiet night.

I was in bed, body supported by pillows, lavender oil diffuser doing its thing, meditation playlist on in the background, body still.

Outwardly, I looked restful, like I was smashing this thing.

Inwardly? A full-blown performance review:

Was that a proper exhale? Or was I holding?

Should I be more grounded by now?

Is my nervous system even responding?!

Then… something soft rose up inside.

A whisper: “Stop performing. I’m right here. Just be with me.”

It was my body.

That was the moment I stopped trying to be good at healing and started learning how to feel safe being human.

Why Your Nervous System Isn’t Impressed with Your To-Do List

Here’s the science bit, beautiful soul:

Your nervous system isn’t regulated by effort.

It’s regulated by safety.

You can be laying in stillness, eyes closed, doing all the right things, but if your inner overachiever is still calling the shots, your system is still bracing.

The body doesn’t respond to shoulds.

It responds to signals.

Signals of safety. Of trust. Of presence.

And healing begins not when you do more…

But when you allow yourself to do less.

So What Now?

If this hits close to home, take a breath with me. Right now.

Let it be messy. Let it be unfinished. Let it be enough.

You don’t have to be good at this.

You just have to be.

Let’s say it clearly:

You don’t heal by getting it right.

You heal by letting go of needing to.

Let your nervous system lead.

Let softness in.

Let your body teach you what real rest feels like without the performance.

An Invitation Back to You

You’ve tried being the A+ student of healing.

You’ve done the work.

Now?

It’s time to come home to yourself.

Join me for one of my weekly sessions. We’re not chasing healing here. We’re remembering ease.

Come as you are. Pyjamas welcome. Nervous system approved. With love, softness, and a little wink to your inner taskmaster, I invite you to come join me.

Stay Blessed!
